FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) — Thy Gift Beeswax Candles

Q1: Why do my beeswax candles sometimes have small cracks or pull away from the glass?
A: This is completely normal! Real beeswax naturally shrinks as it cools, especially in glass containers or cooler weather. You might notice small cracks or the wax pulling slightly away from the sides. This doesn’t affect the candle’s quality or burn.

Q2: Why do you do a second pour during candle-making?
A: Because beeswax shrinks naturally, we often add a second pour during production. This refills any shrinkage and gives the candle a polished, smooth surface finish.

Q3: Why do you only offer two scented beeswax candles?
A: Beeswax candles are different from regular candles — it’s very challenging to scent them well. It takes a lot of careful testing and patience because adding fragrance to beeswax can affect how the candle burns and smells. Scents must be natural, subtle, and perfectly balanced. We’ve chosen just two scents at the moment that meet our high standards for quality and purity, so you can enjoy a clean, natural aroma without any artificial chemicals.

Q4: How should I care for my beeswax candle to get the best burn?
A: Always trim the wick to about 5mm (¼ inch) before each burn. This helps prevent soot or “mushrooming” on the wick and encourages a clean, even flame.

Q5: What’s the best way to extinguish my candle?
A: Instead of blowing it out, gently dip the lit wick into the melted wax pool, then straighten it. This method reduces smoke and helps your wick last longer.

Q6: Are there any special characteristics of beeswax I should know about?
A: Yes! Beeswax candles burn cleanly with a natural honey scent and emit a warm, bright light. Because it’s a natural product, small imperfections like tiny cracks or color variations are signs of authentic beeswax and add to their charm.

Q7: How long should I burn my candle each time?
A: For the best performance, burn your candle long enough for the melted wax pool to reach the edges of the container. This prevents tunneling and helps the candle burn evenly.

Q8: How long does it take to process and ship my order? What are the shipping fees?

We are a small business, and each of our candles is carefully hand-poured in small batches with love and prayer to ensure the highest quality. Typically, orders take 1 to 3 business days to be made.

For bulk orders, if we have ready-made stock available, we can usually process your order within 1 to 3 business days as well. However, since many of our products are made-to-order, bulk orders may take 1 to 2 weeks or more to prepare, plus shipping time.

We ship via Australia Post, our trusted courier. We have a flat shipping fee of $12 for any order, and shipping is free for orders over $150.

At the moment, we do not offer express shipping. Based on experience with Australia Post, delivery times are generally:

  • Metro areas: 2 to 5 business days

  • Interstate: 3 to 14 business days

  • Western Australia: 8 to 14 business days

We will keep you updated via email about your order status every step of the way. Thank you for supporting our small business and your patience as we craft your beautiful candles!
